Backed by Owens Corning Limited 10 Year Warranty
We are offer a full line of insulation products and services to match your particular needs and budget. We are experienced at installing several types of insulation, as well as performing essential new construction energy testing and eye-opening home energy audits.
Properly insulating your attic will help reduce your energy bills. Attics are often one of the easiest places in a house to insulate, especially if you’d like to add insulation. Unless your home was specially constructed for energy efficiency, you can usually reduce your energy bills by adding more insulation. Many older homes have less insulation than homes built today, but adding insulation to a newer home may also pay for itself within a few years.
Radiant barrier works a little differently than fiberglass and spray foam, reflecting heat instead of absorbing it. We use HeatBloc-Ultraradiant heat barrier coating, which has no odor, very low VOCs, low emissivity, and high reflectivity. Created for use in roofs and attics, radiant barrier can be used in conjunction with other insulation products for increased effectiveness.
Modern insulation products have far surpassed previous insulation options, so upgrading can mean even greater benefit. Older insulation products are also more susceptible to moisture and pest damage, which may require a complete replacement. Our team is adept at handling full attic and other insulation restoration jobs, leaving your space cleaner, healthier, and more efficient.
Preventative fire containment measures are an essential part of modern construction. In an effort to limit the damage in an unfortunate situation, we are able to apply effective firestopping materials as a precautionary, and code-adhering process.
Crawl Space Insulation
We install durable, moisture-resistant floor in crawlspaces to allow for service work and usable storage space. We also take the opportunity to install batt insulation on your crawlspace walls and/or floor for added home comfort and energy efficiency
Known for its generous coverage, spray foam forms an excellent overall air barrier. Spray foam is customized onsite to fit constructed walls, ceilings, floors, and attics. It is fire and moisture resistant and keeps pollutants, allergens and pests out.
Garage Door Insulation
Often neglected, an uninsulated garage door can leave a large gap in a structure’s air infiltration shield. We work hard to keep the largest opening in your home well sealed and worry free.
Sound Control Services
The results of good insulation aren’t just felt; they’re heard. In addition to thermal consistency, insulation is able to create acoustic consistency through sound reduction. We know how to choose and install inulation that allows for a much quieter and more peaceful space.
HOME ENERGY AUDIT
Schedule an Audit Now
In the past, most construction and remodeling were done without the knowledge we have today. Most existing homes have undiagnosed issues with inadequate insulation, improperly sized HVAC systems, or air leakage—and most often, a combination of issues. Our Free Visual Home Energy Audit considers the house as a whole—one integrated system. Air flow is the key to understanding it. Controlling air flow leads to immediate improvements in comfort, indoor air quality, safety and increased energy efficiency.
There is no cost involved in receiving a Visual Home Energy Audit. The audit consists of a series of tests that reveal the underlying causes of your home’s issues along with opportunities for improvement. The included tests verify the quality of work initially done and fresh air ventilation for proper indoor air quality. A Scientific Home Energy Audit has a fee of $400 and includes all the tests that make up the Visual Home Energy Audit plus a Blower Door Test, Duct Blast Test and a Thermal Evaluation Test.
L&W helps you get started right by diagnosing your home’s underlying issues and recommending a detailed, prioritized plan of action.
What Does a Visual Home Energy Audit Include?

At L&W we examine your “home as a system” because the individual systems within the home—ventilation, insulation, HVAC—operate as a team. A deficient system affects the efficiency of the home’s other systems. For example, if your home has air leaks or lacks proper insulation your furnace must work harder to compensate for the lost heat. L&W concentrates on improving overall home performance.
L&W will inspect the attic and the box sills in your basement and use a variety of methods to detect insulation in your walls. We also analyze the need for a radiant barrier to reduce the attic temperature which impacts HVAC performance and your insulation’s effectiveness. Deficiencies are noted as well as opportunities for improvement.
L&W inspects the entire home for adequate ventilation. Our analysts quantify the home’s natural air leakage, comfort issues such as temperature differences and provides recommendations to improve indoor air quality. The report also recommends appropriate solutions for heat and moisture control ventilation in attics, crawlspaces, bathrooms and kitchens.
Heating & Cooling System
L&W will inspect your HVAC system addressing areas such as service history, filter condition, system insulation/air tightness and thermostat operation.
Home Performance Report
You’ll receive a detailed report of our findings, including a prioritized list of recommended opportunities for improvement in order of safety, durability, comfort, and efficiency. This prioritized scope of work can be used to direct qualified contractors to complete improvement opportunities.
What Does a Scientific Home Energy Audit Include?
L&W will conduct a “Blower Door Test” to reveal the quantity and location of air leakage within the conditioned portion of the home. This test pulls air out of the house and drawing outside air in through gaps and cracks. At this point the technician can easily identify air leaks, areas of high moisture, and airflow within walls. L&W also examines the exterior and interior of your home for air sealing and insulation needs.
HVAC System Tightness
L&W will conduct a “Duct Blast Test” to determine the tightness of your HVAC system, to include the air ducts, heat exchanger and the seal between each vent and its surrounding sheetrock. In many homes, these vent outlets were not sealed resulting in the loss of conditioned air into the attic or crawlspace. This test will identify where the leaks are located so they can be addressed.
Optional Home Performance Follow-Up Test
After your improvements have been completed, L&W will retest your home to verify the quality of installations and repairs for an additional fee of $250. This is not a necessary part of the Scientific Home Energy Audit but is recommended to insure that the repairs reassess ventilation needs, reevaluate combustion safety, and provide a quantifiable comparison of air leakage.
L&W is certified to perform DET Verification Testing on new construction residential homes. This testing includes a “Blower Door Test” to determine the tightness of the conditioned portion of the home. It also includes a ’Duct Blast Test” which determines the air leakage within the HVAC, ducts and vents. Call us at (770) 942-0330 to schedule an appointment.
Typically, when a DET test is being done, it is advisable for a contractor have an individual present that can address any issues that may arise that result in the inability to verify a home. Should a home not pass the test while the verifier is present, it will require a second test in order to obtain verification.
